Calendar Banned from former Long's bookstore

Columbus, OH. Oct. 23 – With the sale of Long's Bookstore to the Ohio State University-owned Campus Partners organization, the publisher of a calendar featuring OSU students has lost a sales outlet.

Photographer Sean Ashbrook says Long's managers have been told not to sell the 2001 calendar showing scantily clad OSU male students. The calendar contains no trademark-protected material.

Long's has offered all calendars featuring students since they were first published in 1982. But student pinup calendars have not been sold on university owned property since 1988.

Ashbrook says the university wants to muzzle free expression.

People can still buy a calendar by ordering it on the www.campusmen.com website.
