Huron Ohio Girl Appears in Pinup Calendar
Baranek in OSU calendar
A local student is currently being featured in a very successful calendar of Ohio State University students. Amy Baranek, a junior at OSU, and daughter of Mike and Peg Baranek of Huron, OH is "Ms. May" in the 1992 "Women of the Scarlet & Gray" Calendar, which is distributed statewide in Ohio and in Florida.
The calendar was photographed in Key West, Florida last July. The models, stayed at The Casa Gato Mansion and the, calendar quickly became the talk of the town (or rather, island) after The Miami Herald reported on their photo shoots.
Amy graduated from Huron High
School in 1989. ~
Amy was recruited for the calendar by the publisher while working in a mall.
Sean Ashbrook, 24, and student publisher of the calendar, said: "This is the most exciting calendar I've ever produced. The first-printing is already sold out and a second printing is in the works."
The calendar has gained much notariety since they were first published in 1987. This year's calendar is the highest - quality ever' produced. "The code word for the photos in this year's calendar is 'Unbelievable' and that's how we refer to it," Ashbrook said.
Also featured in the calendar is Cindy Cooper, OSU Football Coach John Cooper's daughter. As Ms. July, she appears in front of an American flag.
