Canton Ohio Girl Appears in Pinup Calendar

Veterinarian David Shinaberry is selling calendars out of his Market Avenue N office. It's a sideline precipitated by his attractive 19-year-old daughter's robust good health.
Danielle, the daughter of Shinaberry and his wife, Darryl, is a sophomore teelecommunications student at Ohio State University. She also is a featured in the pullout poster of 1991 Women of the Scarlet & Gray calendar.
"There's quite an interest in them. But people want them autographed, not the generic kind," said Shinaberry of the color photograph featuring a focused rear view of Danielle dipping low and wearing a black thong-type workout brief and a sousaphone.
"People asked us, ÔDid you let her do that?' and we said she's 19 years old and she makes her own decisions."
In truth, Danielle is not in the OSU marching band and Shinaberry says some of the band's female members objected to the association. "They thought it did not shine well on females," he said.
His daughter was chosen to pose for the calendar, he explained, after scouts saw her running. "She's in excellent condition," he added.
To the suggestion that the calendar's pullout poster is the campus equivalent of a Playboy magazine centerfold, Shinaberry responded: "We don't like to equate it to that. It was something that is supposed to be entertaining to students."
The calendar is available in bookstores and also, he added, at his office.
